Every year, there are approximately 7,800 Canadian Armed Forces members that transition from the military and on average 790 Royal Canadian Mounted Police members discharged. For each member or their family, the experience is different. A successful and positive transition/discharge process depends on many factors which relate to overall well-being, including having timely access to support that meet the members and families’ needs during the process.

This consultation is an important step for Veterans Affairs Canada to gain additional insight into the Veterans’, the former RCMP members’ and their families’ perspectives on their completed transition/discharge process. The data collected will be used to help us find barriers and supports needed to ensure the transition/discharge process is a successful one for everyone. This data will be used to inform ongoing work towards seamless transition to life after service.

We thank you for your time and look forward to your response.
